How to Apply for NTA UGC-NET June 2026

  • Step 1 : Apply for Online Registration using your own Email ID and Mobile No. on the official NTA portal at https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/.
  • Step 2 : Fill in the Online Application Form carefully and note down the system-generated Application Number.
  • Step 3 : Upload a live photograph via webcam/mobile during the application. Also, upload scanned images of a recent photograph (10Kb-200Kb) with 80% face visibility and signature (4Kb-30Kb).
  • Step 4 : Pay the application fee online using SBI / CANARA / ICICI / HDFC Bank through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  • Step 5 : Download, save, and print a copy of the Confirmation Page for future reference. There is no need to send any hard copy to the NTA office.

2. Is there any negative marking in the UGC NET exam? No, there is no negative marking for incorrect responses in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

3. Are candidates appearing in their final year of Master’s eligible? Yes, candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or waiting for their final year results are eligible to apply, but they will be admitted provisionally.

4. What is the eligibility for candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree? Candidates with a 4-year undergraduate degree and minimum 75% marks are eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission, but they are not eligible to apply for Assistant Professor.

5. What is the maximum age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)? The upper age limit for JRF is 30 years as of 01.06.2026. Age relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third Gender and Women candidates.
