Short Details

New Rule

  • The Government of India has announced good news for Agniveers. A new rule has been made for Ex-Agniveers who want to join Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles (AR).
  • This rule will help them get jobs easily after they finish their Agniveer service. This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai.
  • The government has created a special category called “Ex-Agniveer” for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) and Rifleman posts.
  • This category is only for those who have completed their term as Agniveers in the Armed Forces.
  • The new rule gives them three main benefits.

Benefit 1: 50% Reservation in Vacancies

  • The biggest benefit is that 50% of all vacancies in Constable (GD) and Rifleman posts will be reserved for Ex-Agniveers. This means half of the total seats will be kept only for candidates who have served as Agniveers. This is a huge step because it gives them a fair chance to get government jobs in CAPF and Assam Rifles.

Benefit 2: Age Relaxation

  • Age limit is often a big problem for candidates applying for government jobs. The government has solved this problem for Ex-Agniveers too. They will get 3 years of relaxation in the upper age limit. This means they can apply even if they are 3 years older than the normal age limit set for these posts.
  • There is more good news for the first batch of Agniveers. They will get an extra 5 years of age relaxation beyond the normal upper age limit. So, in total, the first batch gets a bigger benefit compared to future batches. This has been done because the first batch of Agniveers spent their early working years in the Armed Forces, and now they need more time to prepare for other jobs.
Candidate TypeAge Relaxation
All Ex-Agniveers3 years beyond upper age limit
First Batch of Ex-Agniveers3 years + 5 extra years = 8 years total

Benefit 3: No PST, PET, or Written Exam

  • This is the most helpful part of the new rule. Normally, candidates applying for Constable or Rifleman posts have to clear three stages: Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and a written examination. But Ex-Agniveers will not have to give any of these tests. They are fully exempted from PST, PET, and the written exam.
  • This is because they have already proved their physical fitness and discipline during their Agniveer training and service. This exemption will save a lot of time and effort for these candidates.

What Does This Mean for Agniveers?

  • For lakhs of young men and women who are joining or planning to join the Agniveer scheme, this is very positive news. Many people had worries about what would happen after their 4-year term ends. This new reservation policy gives them a clear and strong path towards a stable government job in CAPF or Assam Rifles.
  • With 50% reservation, age relaxation, and exemption from tough tests, Ex-Agniveers now have a much easier and faster way to join CAPF and Assam Rifles. This step is expected to make the Agniveer scheme more attractive for youth across the country.
